BEHIND THE LENS

 

Photography here at Hove Park School and Sixth Form is aimed at students who enjoy communicating and expressing ideas and feelings creatively. The course actively encourages students to be creative through

self-expression, use of the imagination,  conceptual thinking, analysing the work of other artists and developing practical skills. Success in the subject is underpinned by the ability to record well from observation and to be able to maintain sustained study both at school and at home. Students are taught to plan their own projects in response to a theme and work to produce unique and exciting photographic outcomes.

BTEC photography is about developing skills and understanding how to be a practicing photographer. This course is aimed at those students who want to specialise in photography on leaving school. Students work towards a brief with a scenario, applicable in industry.  With a more vocational focus it will involve exploring a wide range of skills and practices including photoshop, darkroom practice, experimental imagery in photography.
